A program that requires power generators (suppliers) with certain-sized (500 mW or more) generating facilities (excluding renewable energy facilities) to supply at least a certain percentage of their total generation using renewable energy.

Eligibility

Power generation business license

• 3MW or below : Local authorities
• Above 3MW : Electricity Committee of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy

Selection of
licensed sellers

• After the acquisition of the generation business license
• Only solar energy (optional)

Construction of the power plant

• Construction of the power plant pursuant to the Electric Utility Act

Pre-use inspection

• Korea Electrical Safety Corporation

Conclusion of
a contract for power supply

• Korea Power Exchange

  * Contracts can be signed with KEPCO for 1MW or below.

Start of the power generation business

• Report of the business commencement to the local authority

Confirmation of
facilities subject to RPS

• Report to the Renewable Energy Center
• within one month of the pre-use inspection

Issuance and trade of
the supply certificates

• Issuance : Renewable Energy Center
• Trade : Korea Power Exchange
